# Postal Codes Dataset for Ireland (IE)

This dataset contains Irish Eircode routing keys -- 139 rows, all 4 provinces. This is the routing-key tier only (3-character prefix, e.g. "D02"); the full per-address Eircode database (~2.2M codes) is licensed/commercial and out of scope.

**Note:** This dataset is a sample containing the first 100 rows. If you need access to the complete dataset, please contact our sales team for more information: datahub@datopian.com

## Data Sources

Sourced from **GeoNames**, licensed **CC BY 4.0**. GeoNames itself limits Ireland to routing-key level "for copyright reasons" -- the same licensing boundary that makes the full per-address Eircode database (Eircode Ltd/Capita, paid licence) out of scope for this product.

**Licensing status.** Cleared to sell -- `licence_status.decision: compatible`. See `ATTRIBUTION.txt` for the full attribution notice.

**Coverage note.** Only `country_code`, `postal_code`, `place_name`, `admin_name1`, `admin_code1` are populated -- county and post-town data (admin_name2/3) are not available from any open source found.

## Usage

The dataset files are available in CSV format and can be accessed and downloaded using the links provided in the `datapackage.yml`.
